Description
10-Pack of date rape drug test kits comes in a handy booklet for your convenience. Using the proven, industry leading date rape drug detection technologies from Drink Safe Technologies, these test kits will help keep you safe by testing for GHB and Ketamine. Each strip contains two tests, giving you 20 tests per pack. With fast, easy to read results, you can trust the Drink Safe test kits.
To test your drink, place drops of the beverage to be tested onto each spot using a swizzle stick or even your finger. Rub gently. Do not mix the chemicals from each spot together. They should remain separated for best results. Wait until dry. The test can take a few minutes to dry and get a result, be patient. If either spot turns to a DARKER BLUE COLOR, a positive test result has occurred.
GHB INFO
GHB stands for gamma hydroxybutyrate, a central nervous system sedative often referred to by other names such as “Grievous Bodily Harm” and “Liquid Ecstasy.”
GHB was once sold in health food stores as a performance enhancer for body builders because it was believed to stimulate the production of human growth hormone. In 1990, the FDA banned the use of GHB because of reports of severe, uncontrollable side effects.
GHB can produce drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, unconsciousness, seizures, severe respiratory depression, and coma. Overdose of GHB can occur quickly and can be fatal. Since 1990, there have been 5,700 documented cases of GHB abuse and more than 30 reported sexual assaults and 65 deaths attributed to this drug.
Most of the GHB used today is a “homemade” mix of various chemical ingredients, including solvents. Homemade GHB is dangerous in part because there are significant differences in potency, purity, and concentration. The same amount taken from two separate batches can have very different effects.
GHB is available both in liquid and powder forms. It is usually odorless and tasteless and therefore can be easily slipped unnoticed into a drink. GHB can be detected using the date rape coaster.
KETAMINE INFO
Ketamine—also referred to as Special K, Kit Kat, cat valium, Dorothy or Vitamin K—is an anesthetic for animals that is abused as a recreational drug. It is especially popular in the club scene among young adults.
Ketamine (sold under brand name Ketalar) is a schedule III controlled substance, the same category as codeine and anabolic steroids. Schedule III substances can lead to physical dependence, but are very likely to lead to psychological dependence. It is illegal to use ketamine without a doctor’s prescription.
Ketamine is produced as a liquid, which can be injected; as a white or off-white powder, which is snorted; or as a pill. It has been used as a date rape drug because it is odorless and colorless and is not detected by the victim in a beverage, often rendering its victim completely helpless.
Ketamine is a dissociative hallucinogenic tranquilizer that causes the user to experience a full-body buzz resulting in a pronounced sense of relaxation. Typically, the high lasts less than an hour. Higher doses (typically injections) can lead to an effect known as the “K-hole,” where the individual has what is described as a near-death or out-of-body experience, feeling completely detached from reality. The anesthetic properties can cause the person to feel numb, which may lead to accidents and serious injuries while under its influence.
Due to the unpredictable nature of ketamine, it is difficult for the user to gauge how much is too much. Sometimes an overdose can occur after a small dose of ketamine, especially if other drugs or alcohol have also been ingested. Because it is a tranquilizer, complete loss of mobility can occur. Respiratory failure is the leading cause of death from a ketamine overdose.
Leave your drink unattended and there’s a possibility that while you were away, somebody has put something in your drink. Not to worry.
Using a swizzle stick, a straw or even your finger, place a drop of your drink onto both test circles of one test character on either the coaster or test strip. Rub gently. Wait until it dries. If either circle changes to a darker blue color, it signals that your drink is contaminated and should be discarded.
It is as simple as that.
Tap water and certain mineral waters may impart a transient blue hue to the test spots while the test is drying. This is not a positive result, and should dissipate when dry. When in doubt with any beverage, always discard.
