A MEMo Chip is provided with each package of test strips and must be properly inserted into the analyzer before any test can be run. The MEMo Chip contains test name, calibration curve, lot number and test strip expiration date. After the test strip is inserted into the analyzer and blood applied to the strip, test results are displayed in about a minute.

Diagnosing Diabetes - American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines
1. Symptoms of diabetes plus casual plasma glucose concentration of equal to or greater than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L)
Symptoms of diabetes include polyuria, polydipsia, and unexplained weight loss. Casual is defined as any time of day without regard to time since last meal.
OR
2. Fasting plasma glucose of equal to or greater than 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L)
OR
3. 2-hour postload glucose of equal to or greater than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) during an oral glucose tolerance test
