A MEMo Chip is provided with each package of test strips and must be properly inserted into the analyzer before any test can be run. The MEMo Chip contains test name, calibration curve, lot number and test strip expiration date. After the test strip is inserted into the analyzer and blood applied to the strip, test results are displayed in about a minute

Diagnosing Metabolic Syndrome
The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Adult Treatment Panel (ATP) III guidelines identify five risk factors
Any three may constitute a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome
1. Elevated waist circumference: Men - Equal to or greater than 40 inches (102 cm) Women - Equal to or greater than 35 inches (88 cm)
2. Elevated triglycerides: Equal to or greater than 150 mg/dL Or drug treatment for elevated triglycerides
3. Reduced HDL (good) cholesterol: Men - Less than 40 mg/dL Women - Less than 50 mg/dL Or drug treatment for reduced HDL cholesterol
4. Elevated blood pressure: Equal to or greater than 130 mm Hg systolic blood pressure Equal to or greater than 85 mm Hg diastolic blood pressure
5. Elevated fasting glucose: Equal to or greater than 100 mg/dL Or drug treatment for elevated glucose
