Results are expressed either as concentrations of analytes using predetermined calibration curves specific to the product or as positive or negative for the qualitative assay depending on the assay type. Advantages of using the instrument for qualitative assays include the elimination of the human subjectivity for visual determination and storage of results in the instrument.
