The presence of hemoglobin in feces can be indicative of gastrointestinal tract conditions associated with bleeding, such as colorectal carcinoma, colon polyps, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.
Patient collection process
- Make bowel movement onto collection paper.
- Introduce the collection stick into the feces specimen in several different places.
- Gently wipe the stick with a sterile cloth.
- Reinsert the stick into the tube, tightly screwing on the top.
- Mail tube securely with specimen to your physician.
Physician testing process
- Open envelope containing patient specimen.
- Vigorously shake the tube.
- Holding the tube upright, unscrew and remove cap.
- Dispense four drops of solution into the sample well “S” of the test device.
- Wait five minutes and read the results.
Result Reading (results in 5 minutes)
Read the test result at five minutes. A single rose-pink band will always appear in the control zone. In the case of a positive result, a rose-pink band will appear in the test zone
