    What is EtG?
EtG, or Ethyl Glucuronide, is a minor metabolite produced by the human body after the consumption of alcohol.

    What is EtS?
EtS, or Ethyl Sulfate, is also a minor metabolite produced by the body after the consumption of alcohol.

Where are EtG and EtS metabolites found?
EtG and/or EtS are excreted into the urine and can also be found in blood, hair, bodily fluids, and post mortem tissues.

How are the EtG and EtS metabolites created?
Ingested ethanol is metabolized by the body chemically converting to EtG and EtS.

Why test for both EtG and EtS metabolites?
EtG can be masked by bacterial infections in the human body and can deliver a false negative test result. EtS is unaffected and can deliver a true result regardless of infection.

Why not just test for ethanol with breath, blood, or urine?
After the consumption of alcohol, ethanol is metabolized within a few hours and is no longer detectable.

How long are EtG and EtS metabolites detectable?
Ethyl Glucuronides and Ethyl Sulfates are detectable for up to 80 hours.

When should someone be tested for EtG and/or EtS?
In situations where zero tolerance is required. Also, in situations where alcohol consumption needs to be detected but the extended time lapse does not allow for breath alcohol and blood alcohol to be accurate.

How often should someone be tested?
We recommend random testing twice per week.

Should the collection process be observed?
Yes the urine collection process should be observed to eliminate the possibility of adulteration.
