Testing requires only one drop of capillary whole blood to get a quick and precise INR result in about 1 minute. No venous blood-draw needed. The CoaguChek XS system is designed for you, the testing strips require no refrigeration, the device is battery operated and you can even choose to top or side dose the strip, giving you the flexibility to live your life and monitor your PT/INR.

Not only is the CoaguChek XS easy to use, it's also safe. Every strip is tested for integrity by an On-Board-Integrated-System Control (OBIS).

Testing steps

First time

• Insert the batteries
• Insert the code chip (can also be done right before testing)
• Set the current date and time
• Select the coagulation unit you want the results presented in. The results can be displayed in INR, Seconds or % Quick.

Testing procedure

1-Place a test strip in the CoaguChek XS. Make sure the code chip that was inserted in the machine matches the code on the test strip container. If they match, press the M button.

 

2- Prick your finger. A timer will begin a 120 sec countdown. The blood must be applied to the strip before the timer reaches zero.

 

3- Place a drop of blood directly from the finger to the semicircular transparent sample zone. This should be done no more than 15 seconds after pricking the finger. It may be easier to touch the blood drop to the side of the application area instead of the center.

 

4- Your result will be complete in about 1 minute.
